Could I have stopped this disease, or at least slowed its spread?

I have spent the last few months surviving on the supplies in my lab and the surrounding facilities. Food is running low, and the isolation is beginning to wear on me. The loneliness is palpable.

I'm starting to see images of my son where he doesn't exist. I see him in my peripherals and I turn looking for him, but he's simply no longer with me.

I have to move on.
